The Demon is transforming again.
It needs paint, but doesn't look to bad.
I installed my old 440 in it last year and have been chasing electrical problems down. I ended up just rewiring it and it works now.
The 440 is tired. 16 years of abuse, and it's been in 4 different cars.
It lays down on the top end and will only run a 13.50 at 96mph now.
When it was in my Dart it ran a 12.62 @102.
So the 440 came out and the 340 is going back in, but this time with an auto behind it. I never got to make a full run with the 340 4spd. either I broke something or my electrical problem was holding me back.
It would only rev to 4500 rpm then it sounded like the rev limiter would kick in, even though they were set above 6000. I found a bad ground on the MSD box while I was rewiring.
I'm kind of excited about running this engine, as it's fairly fresh and has 13 -1 compression and a mid 500 lift cam. 210 cranking compression.
When I did run it with the 4spd I came out of the hole slow( first time with this car) hit second and all felt good so I put my foot into it and man did it take off  When I threw it into 3rd and dropped the clutch the rear u-joint and yoke came apart.
All I need to do now is put the tranny in, tune the engine and get back to the track.

Hey, Norm. Just wanted to say hi and welcome to the board. I've yet to drag race at Lebanon, but a few years ago I entered a demolition derby they had up there ($10,000 purse). Got my ass whopped pretty good.... nothing like the local derbys that I was used to. I don't derby any more, but I would like to take my Cuda up to that strip before the end of the year. How do you like Lebanon?

The track is nice, especially after all the money they dumped into it in the last few years. It's just busy. last time I was up there it was almost 3 hrs between runs for test and tune.
It gets a little aggrivating because , How are you suppose to be able to tune anything or test a change when you get so few runs.
A guy I know goes on wed. nights and gets in around 5 runs. My schedual won't allow wed nights.
Will you be up for Mopars at The Valley in Oct ?

So how is Island Dragway.
Mapquest says it's 111 milesfrom me
Lebannon is almost 90 and I have to take rt. 22 all the way there which is hilly and winds around. Might take me the same amount of time to get to Island going the thruway to 287 to 80.

The track, like any other, has good and bad days. When I go on Saturdays, I'll run in Trophy/Modified and Heavy Eliminator; that way I'm guaranteed to get in at least 6 runs (2 time trials in each class plus 1st round of each class). Heavy is $60 and Trophy is another $20.
One thing that is lacking at Island is equipment for clean-up: they have the latest in high tech mops and leaf blowers  So if someone pukes on the track, it will take a while to clean it up.
Sundays are T&T and you can usually get in atleast 5 or more passes.

I'm thinking about racing there next year instead of Englishtown. It's 123 miles for me, as opposed to 101 for E-Town.
But I like the idea of racing on Saturdays. Plus they have the split-season thing at Island, right?

Made it to 2nd round once, and lost at the tree. You gotta remember, this is my 1st year of drag racin, and along with sorting out the mechanical problems and such, it's a matter of practice. My best light so far is a .009 and my worst is .812 ( I was watching my tach and when I looked up I saw green). I'm sure things will get better. The car is showing itself to be consistant, now I gotta work more on me.
