Winter projects?

Although I need to work on my traction problem I believe
my 1st winter project will be to install a Cope reverse
valve body and Hurst Pistol quarter stick. I was going to
recover some bucket seats I bought install them and then do it.
But that will cost me over a grand with my custom interior.
So they will wait. Since its just a cable hole in the floor I'm
going to install it with the bench seat in for now. I'll have to
make a pedestal of sorts for it to sit on high enough and angled to accomodate the bench seat. I feel I have to do this first.
I would of liked to of hit more t&t this past season but the best time
is at night and poor lighting and no reverse lockout with a stock
column shifter have stopped me. If I remedy this it will open more t&t time for me next season.
Before the season opens again next year I feel I will also have gotten
my wheels and slicks taken care of.
What plans do you guys have?

Too many to list!

Here's some of it, though...

1. Clean out the garage so I can get the car in there!
2. I've got a bunch of parts I've been collecting, they've all got to go in the car - aluminum radiator, MSD distributor, a decent grill, etc.
3. Bigger cam... Something in the 509 lift or bigger range.
4. The bigger cam will put the car into the 11s, so that means a roll bar, racing harness, etc.
5. Replace the cheezy 1-wire alternator with a proper 1-wire alternator. Either a Powermaster or a Delco.
6. Finally get around to making an air pan to go under my scoop.

Looking to add more HP. Gonna replace the 906 heads with the Eddys and go to a roller cam and rockers.

Hey Mikel, the number one item on your list stinks. I clean mine twice a year. Still can't stop piling up sh*t in there I know I will only have to throw out later. Can't seem to throw things away without storing
them for six months first. Some sort of sickness I guess, packrat syndrome
Dan, you gonna be working them heads or go out of the box?

Dart:
Install new small alternator and finish running 8ga wire. (10ga is scary)
Install aftermarket temp gauge and voltmeter. (I try to use stock temp gauge)
Fit-up 1.5 and 1.6 roller rockers.
Install aluminum master cylinder.
?

K-car:
Finish making/modifying headers.
Get spare 383 bolted in. (I have to buy a truck pan to do this)
Get spare 727 bolted in.
Take measurements and get driveshaft made.
Throttle pedal and cable.
All wiring.
All brake lines.
All fuel lines
?

Trailer:
Finish cabinets.
Install counter-top.
Organize.
Clean.
Seal.
Grease.
?

Hey, Walter. Just got off the phone with John Kerry and he said if you vote for him and he gets elected, he'll give you government aid to help you get all of your chores done. Would he lie?

Tony, I haven't run allthe numbers yet, but I'm gonna have 'em milled to increase the compression. Should be near 76 or 78cc. I decided to put the 400 stroker on hold another year and do this instead. This way I'll be able to afford a rack + pinion which it really needs.

Over the winter, Going to pull the motor and get another 100 to 150 horsepower out of it for next year. I am running a hydraulic cam right now, with about 12.8 to 1 compression, cast iron heads. I am going to try and stay with the cast iron heads. Like to run around mid 9sss next year.

How are you gonna get 100-150 horsepower?

fix the front end. Disc brakes maybe Big bolt patern swap woch means new rims.

I talked to my engine builder a few weeks ago. He said we would have no problem getting the extra 100 to 150 horsepower needed for next year. I don't know what he has planned untill we get the motor apart , and find out what is done to it now.[/quote]

If I can finish my current projects (put in new motor, converter, shifter, painless wiring & 4-wheel disc brakes, I think that is it) there won't be much left. Then I am thinking of putting in a trans brake & maybe a delay box, etc.
If all goes well I would really like to run Super Street in Division 1 if I can or maybe the ponts races at e-town or Island.

Maybe even upgrading my open trailer to a Pace enclosed trailer.
Oh yeah, my son also wants a junior dragster, so if that happens who knows.
I think I better start playing the lottery more and start getting more time off work.

Well the winter project is the same project for the last few years, get the car back together!! ](*,)

I did make good progress this weekend. Saturday I dropped my heads off at G & R Performance in West Babylon, he's hot tanking them and going to magna flux them to check for cracks. Once there cleaned up I’m going to grind on them then back to G&R for bigger valves and to mill them down .030. The guy at G&R was nice, he said he’d even show me where to grind on them.

Sunday I talked to the guy that’s going to weld in my cage, which I’ll be ordering today from Wolfe Race Craft. 10 point cage.

Something like this:

The welder is right around the corner from me, NASCAR guy has a NASCAR pickup truck, also does Hot Rod stuff, has an old 60’s big T-bird in there that a 700 horse 429 with a 5 speed is going into it, really cool looking car!

So if all goes well I’ll get the car back early December then comes the reassembly.

Looks Like he does some nice work from the pictures.

The Pictures are from Wolfe, who I'm buying the bar from, but the Bird the welder was working on was incredible =P~ really nice stuff.

I'm so psyched now, this is the corner I've been waiting to turn for some time!!!!
