Brodix B1-BS Aluminium Heads ?

I ordered a set of Brodix B1-BS aluminium heads on monday. 2 to 3 weeks untill delivery. I had a head gasket blow after 3rd round on sunday, on my 440, with cast iron 915 heads. The gasket blew out the back of the head towards the firewall. I figured I would up grade to the Brodix heads, while it is apart. Anybody know the weight saving, by switching to these heads?? Any guesses on horse power increase, or et gains?? If not, I will find out in 3 weeks I will weigh the car on the same scales, that I weighed the car on 4 weeks ago, and also run it down the track and see how it runs! The Brodix heads have a 65cc chamber, I don't remember what the 915 head cc is? A little info on the heads. http://www.brodix.com/B1%20Big%20Block.html

You're going to lighten up by about 50 lbs which translates to .05 off the ET. Which head gaskets are you going to use? The Cometic MLS get my stamp of approval. If you don't already know, they are 3 layers rivited together, they're reusable, and you can get a steel shim if you need it for clearance. Mine are .027 and the center cores are .040, which I didn't need.

What are yo going to do with the 915's?

I am going to use the Cometic MLS gaskets. The 915 heads have a lot of port work done, they were just freshened up, with new Manley valves, Crowler springs and competition valve job. If you are interested, give me a call or email me.570-889-5073, csauto@chilitech.net

The heads have been on the car for 3 weekends of racing. I finally got back to MapleGrove Raceway this weekend, so I could weigh the car and compare its et's to earlier this year at the same track, with similar weather conditions. My old heads were 906 heads, not 915 heads as I stated earlier. The car weighs 45 pounds lighter. With similar weather conditions to the last time I was at MapleGrove on May 7th or 8th, the car picked up .20 to .25 et., from 10.05et- 10.11et in May. To a New best et of 9.841et - 9.87et on saturday June18th. Also picked up 1-3/4 to 2 mph at half track and finish line. Rpm's are about 300 higher at finish line. The 60 foots also dropped from 1.329 to a new best of 1.308. The Brodix heads that I installed , are just as they came out of the boxes. They will get ported over the winter, for a little more POWER, for next year! According to my Performaire weather station, the car should run 9.65et's in the good fall weather!! It was a good weekend (not a great weekend), I lost second round on saturday, with a red -.003 light. On sunday , I lost 3rd round , with a red -.007 light. I had to dent 3 header tubes when I installed these heads, the 3 tubes were replaced before this weekends racing. Also , the heads are about 1" taller than the cast iron heads, raising the valve covers about 1", hitting the underside of the hood. So I had to raise the hood about 1/2" , to clear the valve covers.

That's a pretty big increase at those speeds!

I am HAPPY so far, with the improvements. It pulls a bigger, and longer wheelie now!! 8) She tryed getting pictures this weekend, but she kept missing them ..
