So Whats UP
Is anybody doing anything, anywhere ? The board has been awefull quiet.
My self, I posted about my new MSD ignition. Now I have to work the other end of things because now I don't have any traction,(just when I finally got it to hook) . Hope I can get to it this comming weekend. I think I will start with just marking the tires and rims and go down in air pressure. If it hooks without spinning on the rim I'll leave it be. If not Iwill have to start from scratch with my Caltracs'. Go back to initial set up point and tune it untill it hooks. For every action there is a equal opposite reaction. Anyway it will get me out of yard work, maybe. I hope. I think .

I have a couple of vacation days Fri/Mon, I was supposed to go to the Lucas Nationals at Maple Grove but that's not happening now.
The Jeep needs some attention (heater core/hoses/belts/etc) so that’s the big plans. I hope to drop off my mustang heads to have them hot tanked so I can start porting them once I get them back. There is a local welder/chassis guy that does work out of his house, plan on seeing his work and if it looks good schedule when I can get the car in there to have the cage done.

The water pump blew up, so it had to come out. Didn't take very long to get it out - only about an hour or so. Took almost 2 hours to get the !@#&($#! fan off the old water pump. Then another 1-2 hours putting the new pump in and bolting everything back up. I almost (but not quite) took a whack at changing the thermostat as well, but there was just too much junk in the way. I had a local shop take care of it this morning.

After I got the new water pump, I went to fire up the truck and found that the battery was dead. Hooked up the charger, let it run for a while, but it still wouldn't fire.
My Duster graciously donated it's battery to help out. Now it needs a new one... I guess I'm gonna have to finally break down and pay for the Optima I've been wanting!

Since there stock E7 heads (read cheap) I figured I'd do the porting myself. I can't really make them flow any worse then they do now. I do want to have them milled and may go with bigger vaves (especially if I hack up the valve seats) so that’s when I'll call in the pro.

OPTIMA RedTop Benefits
Last's up to 2 times longer than other batteries.
More power in the inital 1, 3, 5, and 10 seconds of the starting process than comparably rated conventional lead acid batteries.
Constant performance quality keeping your battery running at the same level even as it's being discharged.
Ideal for seasonal use, fully charged, it can sit unused for up to 12 months at room temperature (or below) and still start a car.
15 times more resistant to vibration than other batteries.
Nonspillable and can mount in almost any position.

HOWEVER, I just pulled the 72 month battery out of my Duster. I bought it like 2 years ago, every time I went to the track I had to charge it up before I left and after the 3rd run. I put it in the truck yesterday, it charged right up and I've got 14 volts.
I'm thinking one of the Optima batteries would be better for a race car.

I guess I was assuming you battery is in the trunk in a battery box. Reading the propaganda on the battery it said it is sealed, could almost be mounted upside down. Thus you would be double sealed. No?
