Alternator Wiring Problem

I have been having problems starting my car after about 2 rounds. The starter seems to be dragging, So I put in a high torque starter, remote
solenoid, and new ground cables and the problem is still there. I run an Alternator to the BAT side of my disconnect switch and noticed when I unhooked the neg. side it would spark. So, it seems my alternator is slowly draining my battery??? What am I doing wrong here? This is a bracket car with no wiring but the bare essentials.

Is this a single wire alternator?
I think I read somewhere about it doing this.
Let me see if I can find the info.

Here, Read this. I know it's a Mopar site, but it is about sigle wire alternators and how they stay HOT if connected directly to the battery.
Hopefully this helps the one problem.

Thanks Mopower71, this may be what I needed to hear.

Your welcome.
Looks like a solinoid in line keeps them from working when the engine is shut down.
Let us know how it works.
