Brakes are here, no they're not...

I ordered brakes from Wilwood on 3/10 and have been waiting for them to show up. Today UPS was supposed to drop them off. My wife left for 20 minutes to pick my son up from school, and wouldn't you know it, UPS was there during that time. And of course somebody has to sign for the package, so they left a note instead of a box full of brakes.

I guess I'll just have to wait another day...

onehellofadart 04-18-2005 02:27 PM

That scks

fastbackcuda 04-18-2005 07:39 PM

That sucks, sounds like my kinda luck lately

mikelbeck 04-18-2005 07:41 PM

But wait - it gets worse! They tagged it so somebody has to be here to accept the package and sign for it. Normally the UPS guy just leaves my packages (I get a lot of stuff here, mostly computer stuff but also a lot of car stuff), but for some reason this one has to be signed for in person.

sickt7cuda 04-18-2005 08:39 PM

Go figure. I've had stuff delivered that cost less than a hundred bucks that I've had to sign for, and yet, when they delivered $1400 worth of cylinder heads, they left them on the front porch. Lucky for me they left them on the right porch.

How far away is the depot? You can just call them and have 'em hold the package....or you can show up before they close.

But yeah, that SUCKS! ](*,)

Tom

It's not far, I could do that. But the earliest I can get there is Thursday...

mikelbeck 04-19-2005 02:59 PM

Delivered! =D>

Well, no. But they're here!

I'll get them installed after the converter... And before the distributor and getting the motor running. So that means sometime next week. Hopefully. ;-)

I gotta get a job on Long Island, commuting 20 hours a week really cuts into the time I have to spin wrenches on the car.

4hrs a day  Must be a good job!

sickt7cuda 04-19-2005 05:17 PM

Mike, when do you think you'll be ready for the track? I'd like to eventually meet your ugly face some day. What's left to do on the car?

I'd really like to go to E-town this coming Sunday. If that doesn't happen, there's a $5K footbrake race at Atco on the 30th I'd like to be at.

I've still got to:
- Install the Wilwood Brakes
- Install the new torque converter
- Replace the rear u-joint
- Install the new aluminum radiator (this may wait)
- Install the new distributor
- Install the new valve body & servo (this will wait)
- Fire it up
- Fix the wiring on the trailer so the brakes work

Not a whole lot, but my life has been kinda crazy the last few days and I haven't had much of a chance to do anything. I'm hoping I can get it all done by the end of this week.

:-k How you making out Mikel?

I got a box full of brakes sitting on the bench in my garage. ;-)

I dropped the tranny last night, pulled out the old converter. I don't have the right fluid so I couldn't put in the new converter. I'll get that done tonight and put the tranny back in. If there's no issues with that I'll get started on the brakes next.

onehellofadart 04-21-2005 09:23 AM

Mikel how difficult is it to install the trans blanket. Can it be
done with it in the car?
Do you have to make any modifications for the Quarter
stick cable?

Absolutely. You just have to drape it over the bellhousing, and then kinda wiggle it around until you get the straps underneath.

stick cable?
Nope. The shift cable, tranny lines and wire for the neutral safety switch all go right under the blanket.

The blanket isn't that tight around the tranny where they're no room to do anything, it's snug but not super-tight.

onehellofadart 04-21-2005 09:31 AM

Thank you

sickt7cuda 04-21-2005 11:05 AM

Mike, which brand of blanket did you get?
How long are the certification dates good for?
Is it required on your car or just there for your own safety?

I don't have one yet, but I think I should put one on....just in case.

Mine is an RCI blanket, I don't know how long the certification is good for. Have you ever seen a 727 explode? I put it on for safety, I like my feet and would like to keep them.

I originally bought a shield, but couldn't get it to fit under the floorboards. So I went with the blanket instead.

Hmmm... I don't remember, it was a couple of years ago.

Mopower71 04-21-2005 06:54 PM

So you got rid of it already?
