Chrys race Dist?

Is there a site or does anybody know the spec on the mechanical advance springs in this thing. It is a mechanical adv. only with the tach drive. Tag on the side says CHRYSLER 4120701 under that it has 4 7
Just wondering if I should pull the heavier green sprin and just run the light one.
That's what I did to my stock elec. dist.

What rpm was your other one all in at with the light spring?

Mopower71 10-12-2004 07:19 AM

On the big block one I did, it was all in by 2000

Then if you remember which spring that was use that one.
Check it with timing light and go from there.

I pulled the heavey spring out and just used the light one.
I was just wondering if it would be of bennifit to tune it so it all comes in real quick. Before I get the higher stall convertor, then it won't matter cause the rpm's will already be way up.

If you removed the heavy spring take the car out and test it.
You already know how it reacted with the heavy spring, compare
the results. If It ran better with the heavy spring with this convertor
put the heavy spring back in until you do the convertor.
You have to do one thing at a time and test the results. Unless your putting in the new convertor this week or next, tune it for how it is
set up right now. It will only be a minor adjustment when you put in the new convertor.
This distrib. only has one spring on the weights :?: There should be one on each set of weights, no :?:
