Wheelie Bars

Hey Paul,

I lowered the wheelie bars like we discussed Sunday and I think that is the ticket! You're right, it didn't unload the rear tires. I still may go a bit lower because they are not tubular and flex more. I plan to go to the T&T Saturday to verify the chassis is done and FINALLY get to the injection setup.

I talked to Rosie, on her way back after the buyback round, and she told me what happened. That bites. Three weeks ago I staged against a dragster with a previous opponents cross over still in my box. I stared at that green light for what seemed like four minutes!

I stayed to watch your pass against Bobby in the second round and can't beleive how little your car lifts now and doesn't haze the tires. Rosie made me laugh, she said; "After September, I told him I want the bars back up!"

Got to run...

Rosie told me that she talked to you. Glad that the wheelie bar info helped. I made it to the semi-finals last weekend. I got some money back. I will be at the track on sunday. Weather is suppose to be nice, around 75* . Paul

Paul,

With your car on the shop floor, can you give me the heights of your left and right wheelie bar wheels?

What looked good for me at the track no longer does in the shop. Probalbly why my car is still doing what it is doing. I think the angle of my bars are all wrong as well.

Thanks!!

What I have should be low enough now. I have 1" under the LR wheel and 1 1/2" under the RR. My car seemed to like a little higher on the right or it would steer the car left at launch. I would imagine this much lower that condition would be more pronounced and, since my bars are flat aluminum and not tubular, they will flex more and need to be lower.

I had shorten the lower bar about an inch on each side so they would drop low enough. Before (with the upper bar in the last hole down) the lowest they would go was about 4". I watched some video and once that 4" high wheel touched the track the front end was already two feet in the air.

All I can do is give it try...thanks again for the info!
