New track for Long Island?
I found this on the NESCA web site:
Gentlemen-I would like to take this opportunity to clear up any misconceptions or misquotes as to exactly what Top Gun Motorsports is attempting to do. We are in the preliminary stages of attempting to enter into a public/private joint venture with Suffolk County on 375 acres of county owned land in Yaphank. This would be a deal similar to that off the LI Ducks Stadium in Central Islip-where the county leased land to a private developer to build the stadium and the county shares in the profit. We are proposing to build a multi venue motorsports facility-consisting of a 3/4 mile oval track, a 1/4 mile dragstrip, a national caliber motocross and seperate ATV track, a concert amphitheatre and a youth zone with go-cart tracks, soccer cages, batting cages, paintball etc. We have had many meetings with key county legislators on the project and have received a very positive response for the proposal. We are know in the midst of doing a traffic study, noise study and pre-lim environmental study. There are no pine barren issues or hydrogeologic zone issues. We want to make it clear at this point that this is exactly where we are at and what we are attempting to do. Misquotes and false rumors alone can set us back. So please refrain from doing so. We will keep this board closely apprised of our progress.
Thank you.
