Seat brace, good or bad?

OK, I know that the NHRA requires a seat brace. I use to be a bronze card NHRA tech inspector and was at a conference in 98 when they where discussing a seat rule change to prevent driver and seat to slip under the lap belt during ‘incident’

My question is a metal stationary bar against the spine going to cause more harm then good? Does anyone have the research done to ensure back injuries aren’t going to be caused by this seat rule?

The anti-submarine would prevent you from slipping under the lap belt, and crush your nuts at the same time!

OUCH
Better to have crushed nuts then end up under the dashboard I guess.

Seat brace good or bad

Cheap Momo FIA seat, custom mounts, no back brace w/ Schroth Profi II-6 HANS belts. When my FIA seat goes out of date in a year or two its time for a Racetech.
