How did she run?

 

It was a very disappointing day. both in terms of weather and performance. Intermittent drizzle was responsible for only 1 time trial which went like this; .064 light, 1.65 60', when I pulled 3rd the front end started "searching" left and right, a little too close to the wall for comfort and I got out of it. No real information to be had. All sorts of questions started to pop into my head.

1. Maybe I just wasn't used to the new found power and the car's reaction was normal?
2. Tire pressure adjustments are in order?
3. Something was seriously wrong with the steering?

Anyway, back to the pits. Decreased air pressure in the front to 32# and raised it in the read to 13.5#. Also found an idle-air screw that somehow had worked itself in to almost closed

Time for 1st round. What to dial?? On paper, the car should run low 11's so I put up an 11.5 1.68 60' (was expecting high 1.50's), car seemed to pull hard through 1st and 2nd, was tracking much better, and speed seemed to fall off down track. Ran a 12.15 @ 109. Hell, I ran better than that with the old set-up. I'm convinced it's a fuel/air problem. This carb needs some serious tuning. I really need a full day of T&T.

Didn't you mention something about a new front end a while back?
A rack and pinion set up?

 

Yeah, I definitely want to put a rack on it, but it'll probably have to wait til next season. The IRS took that money away from me. I suppose they know how to better spend my money!
