My engine builder just called. My extra 440 block is no good. Found cracks in the lifter bores. Anybody close to Ringtown, Pa. have a good 440 block?? Building a stroker motor!! I found a block today!!

 

Man That sucks the lifter bores were cracked, but it's a good thing he found it.
Good to hear you found another block.
My engines are just sitting in pieces. Someday....

 

The block was cracked above the lifters, about 8" long . End to end, on both sides of the block. About 2" below the deck.

 

Where did you find the block?

 

The cracked block came with my car when I purchased it 2 years ago. Came as an assembled, used short block. The used block that I got yesterday, I got from a guy in Archbald, Pa. . It is at engine builders getting magnafluxed and checked.

 

hmmm...all we have is small block stuff..sorry.

i think that we had a 383 block laying around, but ive not been to the shop in a while having moved and such
