Island Dragway question

What's the easiest way to Island dragway coming from New York on I84?
how far is it from where I'm at( near Poughkeepsie, NY?
Can you get many runs in on a Sunday test and tune?
Just weighing options for next year, 90 miles to Lebanon Valley just to get a few runs in and there's no way you can tune anything unless you want to try and do it with 3 runs.

You are not to far from me, just over the river pretty much. I think where I am it takes the same amount of time to get to E-town, Island or Lebanon Valley for the most part.

You would need to take the thruway south to exit 15 & get on Rt. 287 in New Jersey & take that out to Rt. 80 west not sure what exit it is right now. It is mostly highway driving, & not so bad.

In my opinion I would go to Island it is about the same distance maybe a little further but you can get in alot more runs on sunday test & tune, at least 4 if not more. I have a buddy who has gotten in 8 runs on a Sunday at Island, which isn't so bad.

Norm, this time of year you'll likely get in a lot of passes, since a lot of guys (myself included) have hung up their helmuts for the season. I was at Island on the 17th and only got in 2 passes in the 4 hours I was there. I think from here on out there won't be as many cars showing up.

So how is the track overall, compared to LVD?
Pro's, Con's.
From map quest it shows 115 miles and LVD is 90.

I've only been to LVD once, that was for the Capitol Area Rod event and had no complaints. I liked the condition of the track and things moved quickly overall. Only thing is, it's a 3 hour trek for me from the NW corner of N.J.

My biggest complaint about Island is the PA system. Simply put...it sucks. Most of the time you can't hear who they are calling to the lanes so you have to keep constant vigil.
My other complaint is their clean-up ability. If someone breaks, it takes them forever to get the mess cleaned up. I've seen delays of 1hr+. On the plus side.... the American Fries are pretty good.
