Fianlly back on the track...

So we finally got the mirada out of the paint shop....and to the track. The event was the Curt George Memorial/Pittsburgh Chrysler Classic at PRP.

We got new tires for it, and the first few runs, i was pig rich, and it was running Awful.my best runs were like 12.90 around 100mph...it was awful. We changed some things, an the rains came...so we sat around and drank beer for a day and a half, and finally the rains stopped, so we went out for elims. Mind you, i was running 12.60s before with 4.10s and a 3000 stall..now running a 3500 and 4.56s. right before elims, we see that one of my brand new tires is flat. i fill it, it wont hold air...so we put the old bald QTPs back on, and i dialed 12.90. I drew the class champ from three years ago in the first round, but he didnt have his truck, he was instead running his sebring vert and he dialed 17.00...i pulled a decent light, 520 or so, and beat him. I ran a 12.91 @ about 91mph...i was on the binders a bit, and i had a 1.73 short time on the old tires!

The second run, i drew the class champ from last year...
he dialed 13.23, i dialed 12.88, still unsure of how the car was going to react...but an 005 light allowed me to catch him pretty quickly and get the win..12.90@88mph...the car pulled a 1.71 short time...

I was hoping for the bye in the next round, but didnt get it, and i drew a 73 coronet sedan who dialed 12.60, and i went red...

so, it was nice to finally get back on the track, but the car didnt run right..and i was a bit pissed about that...I have made about 1500 runs, plus about 30,000 street miles on the engine without any service, so this winter it is getting new rings and bearings, and possibly pistons a little better than 8.5 to 1...when running 12.60s i was running around 104.5...with short times around 1.68-1.71...so its not getting out as good at it was, but its making decent power to run 12.88 at 88mph on the brakes...

we will be running the mirada and the truck in a few weeks at the chrysler classic final event in norwalk...id like to get it back into the 60s, but its just not making good power with the worn rings...im also curious to see what the truck runs with the little work that ive done...a few guys with similar modded rams have run mid 14s, and they expect the same of hers...
